  • Beta available with Xcode 14 beta 1
  • Customisable lock screens 🤩 View what’s possible here or read about it here
  • WidgetKit API: 3rd party developers can now create widgets for the lock screen. Widgets open up a whole new way of interacting with users outside of the app
  • Focus filter API: change the content of your app based on the user’s current Focus
  • Message Collaboration API: Tie documents to message conversations and FaceTime calls. Apple call it the “SharedWithYou framework”
  • Live text: Copy text straight out of videos! Magic! 🧙‍♂️ Apple call this Live Text API 
  • WeatherKit: In Beta now
  • MapKit: Include the detailed 3D city experience, available now 
  • App Intents: Let users interact with your app more naturally through Siri
  • CarPlay: maybe the most significant update in iOS 16. CarPlay is here to take over your entire car. CarPlay is going head to head with Android Auto. You can view a summary here 
  • Other updates include improvements to Dictation, Safari, Apple Pay & Wallet, Siri, new Home app, Messages collaboration AP, Health…

Xcode Cloud
  • A CI/CD platform built specifically for Apple developers.
  • Introduces four tiers, available from this summer, starting from 14.99$/month
  • You will get 25 hours/month for free until 2023

  • Version 5.7 announced
  • An enormous amount of changes, and this article lays it all out perfectly! Kudos to Hacking With Swift and Paul Hudson. Some of our highlights are below
  • Regular Expressions: Create regular expressions from string
  • Concurrency in top-level code: no more @main struct for those asynchronous methods. Now we can use await
  • Distributed actor isolation
  • Swift Snippets: fill small documentations gaps for projects
  • Lot’s of changes, Hacking with Swift made a great roundup. Some of our highlights are below
  • Display a bottom sheet
  • Position views in a fixed grid
  • Detect the location of a tap inside a view
  • MultiDatePicker lets the user select a variety of dates at the same time
